*Gunter Schubert is the Chair of Greater China Studies covering political, social, economic and cultural developments in contemporary Greater China – a concept which comprises the PRC, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Singapore as territorial units and also the overseas Chinese in Southeast Asia and in the non-Asian world. He is also the founder and director of the European Research Center on Contemporary Taiwan (ERCCT) at Tuebingen University.
