Call for Applications: Research Assistant
Project: Corporate Governance Lawfare
We are seeking to recruit an advanced degree student or a recent alum as a Research Assistant (RA) for an international research group on Chinese public firms listed on U.S. stock exchanges.
Position start date & duration: Immediate, through Summer 2026 (with possibility of extension).
The project examines the offshore listings of Chinese firms on American Stock Exchanges and triangulates listing activity with recent geopolitical events.
RA tasks
RA tasks will include hand-collection and quantitative analysis of firm-level variables sourced from official documents and 3rd party platforms.
Tasks are completed remotely, with weekly online team meetings/reporting.
~15h/week, flexible to your schedule
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have
- A high level of proficiency in Chinese (mainly reading);
- English fluency (reading English sources, speaking);
- Data management capabilities and working knowledge of Excel; - A solid quantitative methodological background (experience utilizing statistical softwares such as STATA or R);
- An ability to commit to the entire academic year;
- Familiarity with public firms’ annual reports is a plus.
- An advanced degree in disciplines such as Economics, Business Management, Finance, Business Law, or Political Science is a plus.
- Familiarity with relevant firm reporting databases (e.g. S.E.C EDGAR, WIND, CSMAR) is a plus.
Payment
A competitive hourly international student rate.
