Admission Requirements for Graduate Degree Programs
The Graduate Institute of National Development (NDI) offers graduate programs leading to the M.A. and Ph.D degrees. The Institute brings together distinguished faculty from various social science disciplines, offering a unique curriculum which combines interdisciplinary studies and policy-oriented research of Taiwan and China. Courses are offered in all areas of development studies- including politics, law, economics, and sociology- with a special focus on the study of contemporary Taiwan and China.
The Institute’s curriculum is divided into five subject areas: Constitutional and Political Development; Legal and Social Change; Economic Development and Policy; Social Policy and Development; and China and Cross-Strait Studies. This diverse curriculum provides students with a comprehensive foundation in development studies while at the same time allowing them to choose from a wide variety of research approaches.
How to apply
Applicants should first complete the general application procedure for foreign students through the Office of International Affairs (OIA), National Taiwan University (http://www.oia.ntu.edu.tw). Completed applications must be submitted directly to OIA and should include:

Ph.D. Program

Required Credits to Graduate
M.A. Program
The minimum credit requirement for completion of the M.A. program is 28.
Ph.D. Program
The minimum credit requirement for completion of the Ph.D program is 27.
Foreign students are exempt from the oral and written entrance examinations; admission will be based on assessment of the application materials listed above.
